This legislation fights wildlife crime
We're one step closer. On September 12, 2018, the U.S. House of Representatives passed powerful legislation to end wildlife crime. Now that bill is up for a vote in the Senate.
H.R. 6197: Rescuing Animals with Rewards Act of 2018 (RAWR) authorizes the Department of State and U.S. federal law enforcement to offer rewards from existing reward programs for information that targets international wildlife traffickers. In 2013, the State Department Rewards for Justice Program announced a reward of $1 million for information on one of the most notorious transnational criminal organizations engaged in wildlife trafficking. It worked. The RAWR Act further pushes the State Department to fight wildlife crime by using rewards to bring dangerous criminals to justice. But first, a majority of our Senators must vote "yes."
