Protect mountain gorillas from oil extraction
Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo is a World Heritage Site and one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world. It offers refuge to critical populations of mountain gorillas – just over 1,000 remain today.
But despite its priceless ecological importance, oil companies are fighting to enter Virunga for oil exploration and extraction. To drill in this park would not only threaten wildlife, negatively impact the ecosystem and jeopardize the mountain gorilla, but also bring further disruption to an unstable area full of human conflict.
Help us protect this precious park and the critically endangered mountain gorilla from outside interests. Stand with AWF against the exploitation of Virunga National Park.
